Construction-related activities continue on the Washington Bridge Rebuild project, with design, survey, site preparation, the ordering of materials, and mobilization of equipment.
The design-build contractor continues to install piles in the laydown area adjacent to Gano Street weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. These piles will be part of a pier that will be used to provide equipment access to the water once construction begins on the bridge later this spring. Vibration and noise monitoring as well as erosion control will be in place.
Bridge preservation work is scheduled at the Providence River (Iway Bridge). Expect a left lane closure on I-95 South, just prior to Exit 36A, and extending the length of the exit ramp until it merges with I-195 East, Sunday night, May 31 from 8 pm. to 5 a.m. Motorists can also expect a left lane closure on I-195 West, from the Providence River Bridge to the merge with I-95 North, Tuesday night, June 2, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. On I-195 West, over the Providence River Bridge, from just prior to Exit 1C to the I-95 North and South split, expect one right lane to be closed from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and two right lanes to be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., Sunday-Wednesday nights, June 7-10. At the same location, motorists can also expect one left lane to be closed from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and two left lanes to be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Thursday night, June 11.
